Great for 14 year old’s party.
Bought for my 14-year old and her friends. They had a lot of fun dressing up and getting into character. The format is easy to follow. The clues are okay. Just two pictures. All in all we’re happy with the purchase.

Be all that you can be, a wizard solving crimes.
Family and friends gathered on our vacation by a small lake. 14 Wizards from Age Dumbledore(?) to the a very young Harry Potter(7) took their task very seriously. We were also celebrating a Wizard birthday...how fortuitous to have the birthday Wizard Hat for the occasion. As with all Wizards age is irrelevant as she did not share the number with us.

  • Appetizers... drinks. Dinner tri-tip barbecue followed
  • Email one week before advising participants to start thinking like a wizard

Perfect for a groups of teenage girls!
We used this for a Girl Scout troop meeting and they loved it. It was last minute so they didn’t get time to really get into their characters but my round two they were fully immersed. Every one of them has asked to do another one asap!
  • We told them to come dressed in their witch or wizard gear. They loved dressing up.

Wizards celebrating at a Lakeside Lodge.
It was a family get-together to celebrate a 30th birthday. We hired a lakeside lodge for three nights and played on night 2. Everyone got dressed up for the occasion.
  • Cake and Alcohol. The cake was green - looked strange, tasted great (even though it had kale in it).
  • Wands, hats, Harry Potter music

Murder of the High Wizard neighborhood hit
Held a block party in my house to get to know some new neighbors. It was a great time. People let their guards down, had a blast, and even some figured out who dun did it! Would recommend doing it again.
  • Pizza and munchies
  • Played Wizard type music on smart speakers

Fun way to get together virtually
Everyone seemed to have a good time, though there was a little confusion about how much everyone was supposed to read. Some players felt like they should read their character text at the top aloud to everyone, while others felt like that was a bad idea (giving too much away).

This is the second game from here we've played, so based on both experiences, I would suggest:
- Adding character introduction text that the characters say to the group (instead of the host introducing them)
- Creating more important visual clues (no one felt these added anything to the game)
Overall, I think we had more fun with the original one we played (the Christmas game), because it was easier to dress up and get into character, but this was still a good time.

Awesome Wizard Party! Fun virtual Birtday Party.
We played Murder of the High Wizard as a virtual adult birthday party. It was a fun way to be able to get together safely. It felt like we were all sitting around the table together. It was easy to run the party ourselves. We dressed up and decorated and had theme dinners together(virtually). We embellished our characters a little and all had such a great time we are ordering another mystery. I give thumbs up to this for sure!!
  • We had Pumpkin Pasties, butterbeer, and chicken pies. we used the unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook recipes. Also had some chocolate frogs.
  • We all dressed up in costumes, used props including wands and books. We decorated the house to match the wizard theme. Awesome Wizard

Fun!
We wanted a special birthday celebration, and thought given the virtual nature of the event that this would be a fun activity. We had a great time and it was an easy-to-use kit, where everyone could be equally involved.

Fun Family Zoom Events
Our family has completed 3 Murder Mysteries over the past 4 months. We typically have 6-12 family members join in every Saturday for various "Zoom Game Nights". We love to add in some fun with our Murder Mystery nights. Our family has a number of creative personalities and their improv adds to the fun.
  • Each family typically dresses up and brings fun to the Zoom - the more creative the better!

Wizards and Wonder at the College
We played Murder of the High Wizard as part of a 10 year old birthday party with adults and kids.
  • Magical Meatballs
    Spell Filled Spirals
    Fantastic Fruit Wands
  • We did this during the pandemic and had items such as wizard wash (hand sanitizer) and magical masks (face shields) as part of the party. We stayed outdoors and built in a scavenger hunt and a silly string battle. The kids loved being detectives and the adults played the roles. Fun was had by all.

Magical Fun Birthday Event
Kids Birthday Party
  • We interwove the 30 min murder mystery with wizard themed party games including a potions class where the kids made slime and had to describe their potions "magical powers", a scavenger hunt, a silly string battle and a magical creatures creation class with some paper animal imagination.
  • Kids all wore capes and wands. Some adults dressed their role, others did not. it was a small house party with wizard themed decorations.

Spooky office party
Bought this game for an Office Halloween Party. We had eight people volunteer to be characters and gave them their character sheets a week before the event. Everyone got pretty into it! We bough wizard hats and other accessories for the event and had spooky treats and a drink with dry ice.

The game was a little long and it was a little awkward just going around in a circle; we were trying to keep it to 30 minutes and didn't mingle much, but it still took about 50 minutes to complete. I think if there were 5-6 characters instead of 8, it would fit better into 30 minutes. All in all it made for a fun party!
  • Ghost cupcakes with vanilla frosting and mini chocolate chip eyes
Crescent rolls in the shape of bones
    Spooky forest pudding cups
  • Wizard hats
Spooky music playlist off of youtube
